Andre Belejo has over seven years of structural and earthquake engineering experience, obtained in both professional practice and as an academic researcher.  His solid foundation in the fundamental principles of structural engineering gives him the capability to embrace a wide variety of projects encompassing both traditional and nontraditional engineered structures.  Andre’s work includes seismic studies, structural design, seismic retrofit, performance based design, structural modeling, and advanced soil-structure interaction analysis.

Dr. Belejo started his career at a structural design firm in Portugal, where he acquired experience on structural design, consulting, and construction administration for a variety of civil engineering projects.  Before coming to United States, he worked for two years as a researcher at the Technical University of Lisbon, where he focused on nonlinear analyses for design/assessment of structures, and evaluation of next-generation performance-based seismic design and assessment procedures. During his PhD study, he performed structural damage prediction for buildings and bridges subjected to earthquake ground shaking including consideration of the effects of soil-foundation-structure interaction and duration of strong shaking.
